Brockport Child Development Center

Began Offering Childcare: 1972

Brockport Child Development Center (BCDC), established in 1972 and located on the campus of the College at Brockport, State University of New York, is devoted to providing high quality care. The Center serves children and families of State employees, including SUNY Brockport faculty and staff, and the community at large. All State employees receive priority enrollment. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., 52 weeks a year. The Center serves children ages eight weeks to 12 years of age, offering a before and after school program for school-age children and offers full day programming for these children on school vacation days and during the summer (Campus Kids).

The Center's curriculum recognizes the key role of the environment (room arrangement, materials, routines, etc.) in the learning process. The Center places special emphasis on parent/family participation and honors each child's cultural background. Programming revolves around the concept that relationships are the core context in which learning occurs and therefore gives considerable attention to the teachers' role. High quality programming is a mixture of well prepared, age/stage appropriate environment combined with knowledgeable and nurturing adults. The program is driven by teachers touching children's lives with skill and compassion.
