Paying for Child Care

The Dependent Care Advantage Account (DCAA) Program can help you pay for child care.

Dependent Care Advantage Account

As the result of the collective bargaining agreements, certain state employees are eligible for an Employer Contribution between $500 and $1,000 per year when they enroll in the Dependent Care Advantage Account (DCAAccount). This Employer Contribution is an important benefit that helps state employees with expenses for child care, elder care, or care for a disabled dependent. The DCAAccount also saves state employees money by allowing them to set aside up to $5,000 per household in pre-tax salary to pay for dependent care expenses. Those who enroll in the DCAAccount never pay taxes on the amount they set aside for eligible child care expenses.

If you and your spouse are both state employees, you may both enroll in the Dependent Care Advantage Account and you may both be eligible for an Employer Contribution based on individual salary.

The DCAAccount is a simple and convenient way of putting tax dollars back in your pocket, and with the Employer Contribution you can save more than ever. If you miss the annual fall open enrollment period, you may still be eligible to join. Contact us to see if you are eligible to enroll under a Change In Status.
